- Williamson -

linebow.gif (4535 bytes)

A brief outline of the Williamson side of my family tree (so far).

My great-grandfather, John Williamson and his wife Catherine (Flynn) Williamson, left Ireland about 1852-1854.  They came directly to California and settled in Springfield/Columbia, California.  John also had a brother (name unknown) who came with him to California.  I have a cousin from that side of the family.

John Williamson was a gold miner during the Gold Rush in Columbia.  Catherine Williamson was a housewife.  They had the following children in Springfield/Columbia.  John received his naturalization on 20 Oct 1864 in Tuolumne County.

Mary Williamson (b-1858).
Matilda Williamson (b-1860) married a John Francis O'Brien in San Francisco, California (1880)(my grandmother and grandfather).
Sophia Williamson (b-1863).
Clara Williamson (b-1869).
William Williamson (b-1877) married a Mary M. Quigg in Sonora, California (1901).

Matilda Williamson and John Francis O'Brien had four children (two of them died) before their divorce in 1888.  John William Francis O'Brien and a brother James J. O'Brien survived.

John William Francis O'Brien is my father.

There are a lot of missing links in my family that I am looking for. If anyone has any information on the Williamson family (or any descendents/relations) in the Tuolumne County, California area, please feel free to drop me a line at the address below.
